Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca
The picture below is a picture of Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca. He was a explorer that was from Spain and he explored Texas and he was one of six survivors on the Narvaez expedition. He was born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1488 and his funeral was somewhere in Spain. He died 1558 by natural causes (old age). He went to Texas because, after the Narvaez expedition he had to make a boat and then he sailed to Texas and Mexico. They went there to conquer the land between Mexico and Florida (Texas). The boat crashed in Florida and decided to keep going on. The landed in Texas in. He was a catholic man that was a Proto-Anthropolgist that is a person who has detailed accounts of the many tribes of American Indians. Since he was a Proto-Anthropolgist he earned a decent amount of money. That is where he got the money for the Narvaez expedition.
